Interesting article and very nicely written! Twitter and LinkedIn will soon become the most effective way of building your professional career and creating a personal brand. However, one will have to invest time in learning the effectiveness of this site and ways to use it properly.

By the way, if you are looking to make the most of their LinkedIn account, check out networking expert Jan Vermeiren's new book "How to REALLY use LinkedIn". You can find a free lite version at http://www.how-to-really-use-linkedin.com/

Any good SEO firm has been embracing social media for the last 18 months or dare I say it, they have their heads in the sand. Social Media helps SEO in many ways;i.e. link development, signature files with keywords links point back to a site (link development also), we are even finding keyword rankings for Twitter posts for our clients. The two marketing processes compliment each other in other ways as well. Blogging in social media and it sure pushed page and keywords rankings into Google faster than any other method - within 24 hours usually. Our 2 cents in any case,.............

Hi.

No. I definitely don't. Twitter is being used, successfully, now in so many ways:

- social networking
- promotion / publicity
- research
- journalism
- customer service

And more ..

For me blogging and Twitter (blogging, though, still in a different - higher - league to Twitter) have been the two big social media platforms / tools of the last few years (and, I think, still have a big future).

In fact, I think Twitter is the best blogging back up / support (not replacement) at the moment (not forgetting all its other uses).

Twitter is definitely not a fad (i think ..).

Thanks for the mention!

One item of clarification - the $6 million settlement was not awarded to one individual. As a class-action lawsuit, the payment will go to a fund from which members of the California settlement class can make claims. A payment of $20,000 will be made by Target to the California Center for the Blind, Inc. on behalf of Bruce Sexton (the original Plaintiff).

Full text of settlement and information for claimants can be found at http://www.nfbtargetlawsuit.com/.

cheers
